Want to goto law school near Los Angeles. Heard UCLA, USC, Pepperdine are pretty good. How about smaller ones?
Posted by admin | Under ucla law school Sunday Nov 30, 2008How about smaller law schools such as Southwestern Law School or Western State University College of Law? Are they any good? If I want to become a judge later on, will the smaller school suffice or should I try to get into a better law school?
The better the school the more opportunities will be available to you. However, what school you're able to get into will depend a lot on your grades, whether or not you currently reside in CA, what type of law you plan to practice, and several other factors.
You are correct, UCLA, USC, and Pepperdine are all very good schools. Pepperdine is private so it is VERY expensive unless you have been offered a comprehensive scholarship. Stanford in No. CA is also very prestigious and is the West Coast version of an Ivy League school.
I believe Southwestern is pretty decent; haven't heard of Western State. You may want to check with some local attorneys to get their perceptions as well.
Good luck!
smaller is fine if you work hard, but job market favors the bigs
